We use Birds Eye Landscaping in Framingham. They've been doing a real nice job for us. Clean ups, mowings and some specialty work when we need it.

We had a horrible experience with Bill's.Tree & Landscape They removed a large tree and were supposed to grind the stump. They never did. Despite repeated call from me - they never came back. My mistake was that I paid in full before the job was finished.

We had the exact same experience with these guys. I would never do business with them again. He told me that he had a guy that does all of his grinding at a special rate, so it keeps the jobs cheap. Now with your story it certainly seems like a fraud scam in hind sight.

I will suggest Jeff and Scott Baker from Brentwood Landscape.

They have installed a sprinkler system (now 4 on my street), front brick walkway, a bluestone walkway to the back yard, as well as other work over the years.

We're very happy with BRENTWOOD Landscaping (508)620-1239 Framingham. It's owned & operated by brothers Scott and Jeff Baker. They built a retaining wall, back-filled a sloping/eroded back yard, put in a new lawn, and installed a 6-zone undergound sprinkler system for us. They also do landscape and patio design. They're easy to work with, return calls, show up on time, do great work and are competively priced. Feel free to tell them the Marshs sent you, for whatever it's worth.

I heartily agree with the Marshes - Brentwood landscaped our whole yard and installed natural stone walls and a patio. Outstanding work, and the Baker brothers are honest and reliable.

Hamel Brothers Landscaping

We use Hamel Brothers Landscaping. They are out of Natick and do both commercial and residential work. They do an amazing job with spring and fall clean up and last year we moved to a new house and the yard was in really bad shape; they came and put all new loam, leveled and seeded. Our yard looks amazing.

Very hard workers and honest guys. I have know them for over 30 years. Call them they are reliable and always get the job done right. Ask for David or Paul and tell them Lisa & Brian Jaeger sent you.

Carlos Araujo

We have had good luck with Carlos Araujo. He is very cheerful, sweet, honest and hardworking. My husband is very fussy and Carlos does whatever he asks. They are very reasonably priced. I have 2 little children at home but I feel comfortable when his men are in the yard. He mows, mulches, clears falled tree debris, etc. He built a stone wall for us last year which still looks great. This will be our 3rd year using him. Good luck!

Tim's Landscape

We've since used Tim's Landscape with great results. He's put in a lawn for us and last fall a large patio. He relaid a section of the pavers without my mentioning that they seemed a bit skewed and when he asked me about the particular approach he'd chosen to finish off the patio in our narrow back yard, I only ACTED unhappy. He changed it to exactly what I'd wanted even though he probably could have gotten by without it (that is, I would have let it go and paid him). He's very conscientious and works very hard and his work is good. The GC I had around who was finishing up a major renovation was impressed enough to ask for Tim's contact info.

I used Roger for one year and was very disappointed

He always sounded good, and in fact could do a really great job one day --- then a terrible one the next time.

Eventually we had a disagreement over a job which he barely did 70% of and billed at many times the agreed upon price. I did pay the bill as submitted, but discontinued his services.

Later I spoke to a few others with similar experiences who had been happy with him for a while then run into problems.

My household has contracted with Sturgis & Associates and used their services for over 3 years. We have always felt the value was worthwhile and we have always been pleased with the results. (this is my own opinion; Lisa Shapiro)

As far as the difference between Sturgis and other Landscaping companies - I will quote from information Roger sent me himself:

"....Sturgis & Associates are located in Saxonville. They have been in business for 41 years, are fully insured (health insurance, worker's comp and liability) are the only company in the state that practices Integrated Pest management, the responsible use of turf pesticides.

Although they build patios, walls and water features, their bread and butter is solving horticultural issues: plant and lawn problems, water use and pesticide issues, drainage and lots of others.

Roger Sturgis does not charge for his consultations, and gives his estimates on the spot."

In summary, Sturgis & Associates is our landscaping company.

Last week I posted a request for landscaper recommendations. Thanks to all who replied with great suggestions. At time of my post I mentioned I currently use Roger Sturgis, and stated that my lawn mowing quotes jupmed up this year to $65. The correct amount quoted for this year from Roger Sturgis is $56 per mow - it seems I mixed up my numbers. I have spoken to Roger about this and he expressed concerns over my mistake, so I wanted to fire off this email and correct my error.

I also recommended him to a friend and they're' thrilled with him. I met Andy a number of years ago when I worked at a greenhouse and got to know a lot of landscapers. We started using him because he's very hardworking, had integrity and takes pride in the work his company does.
