Feng Shui

Rt 9 in Natick (the former Vinny T's location):

We visited the new Feng Shui located on Rt 9 in Natick in the former Vinny T's location.

Aesthetically, the place is really lovely. It's big restaurant, but broken up into smaller rooms which gives it a more intimate feel.

The sushi bar is great, the chefs do a great job and everything seems very fresh. Seaweed salad is wonderful.

The menu has traditional Chinese offerings, various Asian dishes and some unusual dishes that are not Asian. It would be a mistake to stick only to the traditional Chinese dishes. We decided to try all new items and were very pleased. If you've received the takeout menu in the mail, you will not see some of the more interesting entrees that are only available in the restaurant.

The crispy pad thai was very good. Different than traditional pad thai, but delicious. We also had two non-Asian dishes that were outstanding. The blackened beef tenderloin tips served with a gorgonzola sauce and crostini was great, pretty spicy, but we like spicy food. The cast iron filet, was a perfectly cooked filet served over mashed potatoes with a delicious sauce. both were presented really beautifully.

We had 2 desserts as well. Chocolate ganache cheesecake and creme brulee. Both good. They would benefit from sitting outside the fridge a bit to not be so cold, but both were good endings.

The prices are reasonable for the portion size, we brought home enough for lunch tomorrow.

Quick, non professional, review of Feng Shui in Natick, next to Chuck E. Cheese on Rt 9.

Just enjoyed the $11.99 lunch buffet. http://www.gofengshui.com/bufftet.html We got there as the doors opened, (11:30) I'm glad we did because everything was just being brought out, hot and fresh.

They had about 10 plates of various maki(sushi) none with fish in them (that I remember) but they were really delicious, they did have a large plate of fresh sushi with tuna, crab, shrinp and cod. That was also great and fresh. You had your choice of soups, miso, wanton and hot and sour? (I think?) Once I heard miso, I didn't listen to the other options. My friend and I choose the miso soup - our waitress brought us a teeny cup of it, I would have like a refill, maybe you can get one, I didn't ask. It was really good, comparable to other other miso's in the area (Chili Basil in Sudbury - LOVE it there too!) and Minado's for example.

The buffet had a bunch of offerings, if I can't remember three soups, bear with me here... pepper chicken, baked salmon, spicy green beans, coconut shrimp (SO good!), spinach dumplings, bacon wrapped chicken, beef w broccoli, chicken w broccoli, noodles, beef with mushrooms, tempera veggies, veggie lo mein, various rices, your average Chinese apps of spare ribs, chicken wings, spring rolls, crab ragoon, onion rings, etc. It was all good. The menu though we didn't order of it was all reasonably priced, $16 for 1/2 duck, $12 for Pad Thai. There also were two salad selections we didn't notice the first time, perhaps because we got there as they were bringing items out.

The desserts were fresh fruit: pineapple, cantaloupe, honeydew, and grapes - all sweet and freshly cut and four different bite sized cakes.

Service was great and the decor really impressed me, very nice in there with no traces of Vinny T's (RIP) They also have hibachi specials for lunch under $15, I'd try that next.

Can't wait to go back!

Based on several very positive recommendations about Feng Shui Restaurant in Natick, we went there about three weeks ago. We ordered from the menu and everything was great, especially the Sushi. We went back yesterday and decided to try the Buffet. What a disaster! The wings were overcooked and not edible, the roasted mussels were so bad we each had a taste and couldn't finish it. The Sushi seemed to have been prepared hours before and was not nearly as good as when we ordered from the menu and was prepared just before serving. There were other items that were not very palatable, like t he green beans which were cooked al dente and totally tasteless, we both had one bite and left the rest on our plate. We didn't stay for dessert, we quickly paid in cash and hi-tailed it outta there.

Obviously we won't be going back there and could not recommend their Buffet Luncheon.

I don't like to hurt a business by a negative review but I have to tell it like it is. I would like to hear from others who have recently (within the last two weeks) tried their Buffet.
